This Privacy Policy applies to the YT Comment Downloader Chrome Extension ("the Extension"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.

1. Data Collection and Usage

Our Extension operates locally within your browser. Its sole purpose is to allow you to extract and download comments from the YouTube video you are currently viewing.

• Website Content (Comments): When you click the "Fetch Comments" button, the Extension reads the public comments and metadata (such as usernames and timestamps) exclusively from the YouTube video tab you are actively viewing.
• Local Processing Only: All data extraction, parsing, and file generation (CSV, Excel, etc.) happens 100% locally on your computer.

2. Data Sharing and Transfer

The Extension does not transmit, share, sell, or distribute your personal data, browser history, or extracted comments to any external servers, third-party services, or APIs. We literally do not have a server to collect your data.

3. Permissions Explained

The Extension requires certain permissions to function, strictly limited to the following:

• activeTab: Allows the Extension to run only on the specific YouTube tab you are currently viewing when you click the extension icon.
• scripting: Allows the Extension to inject the necessary script to read the comment data from the active YouTube tab.
• youtube.com (*://*.youtube.com/*): Allows the Extension to access YouTube's internal data so it can retrieve all batches of comments.
• storage: Used temporarily and strictly locally to remember your simple UI preferences (like which export format you chose last time).

4. Third-Party Services

The Extension relies purely on the YouTube platform to fetch public comments. The Extension itself does not incorporate any third-party analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) or external tracking mechanisms.

5. Your Consent

By using the Extension, you consent to this Privacy Policy. Since no data leaves your local machine, your privacy is automatically guaranteed by using the software.
